Share Your Love to Help This Cute Cat See Without Pain

Adorable Squirrel came to the shelter as a sickly, stray kitten in need of tender loving care. She had bad digestive issues and would not open her eyes all the way, despite being given medication. The Friends of the Burlington County Animal Shelter, "Friends," stepped up and got this little girl into foster care and under veterinary care.

She was diagnosed with a medical condition called “eyelid agenesis,” a congenital defect where the upper eyelid doesn’t form. Now 7 months, Squirrel can be very loving and playful, but she also has a spunky, determined side! She’s super adorable and is available for adoption from the Burlington County Animal Shelter once her medical treatment is complete. Her future adopter will find life with her won't ever be dull!

Squirrel's vet recommended a surgical procedure known as a cryoablation (whereby liquid nitrogen burns off the hairs at the edge of the upper eyelid margin), to help prevent irritation and diminish her pain. Squirrel had surgery in the fall, but as happens in about half the cases, she has a few persistent hairs that came back and are still irritating her eyes. In order for her to be pain free, she requires a second surgical pass. Otherwise, she would need eye drops given 2-3 times a day for the rest of her life. The costs for both surgeries and her ongoing treatment have hit $2,500.

Let's show this little beauty some love💕. Be a sweetheart and donate today to help us cover her medical costs. Your generosity will ensure that Squirrel heals and has a normal, pain-free life.
