Help Us End Lieutenant Jack's Discomfort
Help Us Cover His Diagnostic Tests and Care
Betrayed by His Body, But Spirits Undeterred
He may have a soldier’s name, but Lieutenant Jack is just a sweet boy who has been utterly defeated by his body. Yet, his quirky spirit and loving personality are undeterred. He needs a hero to help him live a life free of pain and discomfort.
Estimated to be two years old, Lieutenant Jack was found in Willingboro around July 9th, 2025, and brought to the Friends’ Hissy Hut location, where he remains. In all this time, the poor boy has suffered from severe nasal symptoms, mouth ulcers and stomatitis. He developed anxiety, likely due to being so uncomfortable, and had begun overgrooming to the point where his fur was coming out. Despite the best efforts of volunteers and his veterinarians, Lieutenant Jack has failed to improve.
Lieutenant Jack has been treated with several rounds of different antibiotics with minimal improvement. Jack has had a history of calicivirus, specifically resulting in painful mouth ulcers, and has now developed severe stomatitis and will likely need all his teeth removed. He also received steroids for nasal inflammation and mouth ulcers, resulting in only modest improvement. He is getting pain medication, that doubles as anxiety relief, twice daily to help with his ulcerated mouth and to prevent him from over grooming.
We have a HIGH suspicion that his severe congestion is due to a nasal polyp. He needs a polyp scope and perhaps further diagnostic tests like a CT scan or rhinoscopy. Together these can easily cost as much as $6,000. On top of that, he still needs to be neutered ($80), as he has been too sick, and he needs a full dental exam with the likelihood that all of his teeth must be removed ($700-$900).
Through all this, Lieutenant Jack has been the sweetest guy ever. He literally only wants to be petted, get kisses and cuddle! He has some adorably cute habits, such as eating with his paws. Once his health issues are diagnosed and treated, he can be adopted. He cannot wait to spend his years in a loving home.
We hope to raise $5,000 to help defray some of these costs and get this deserving guy back on his feet and into a loving home. Will you help?
